“First Was Nina” is a concept and an art direction for a music festival, a world tour that highlights the figure of singer Nina Simone and brings her to a modern-day audience. It features some of today’s leading artists, who pay tribute by singing Nina Simone’s most significant songs, who, despite her death, still influences many people, fostering the production and evolution of black music worldwide, a genre that although it has new faces and new formats, was once spearheaded by Nina.
